What To Wear

I have found that having some kind of "dress code" for class makes the learning and sharing environment in class so much better. So I ask that each girl come to class with:

      - a solid colored leotard with some kind of sleeves (please no tank-top or spaghetti straps) and solid colored tights/dance pants/leggings (please no bare legs) *The tights do not have to have feet

*Level 1 & 2 will eventually need both a pink and black leotard with short sleeves for the recitals (pictured below) so you can buy them now for class and they will have it for the recital.
*Level 3 will need a black leotard for the recital.
(If you have leos with long sleeves they are fine. We can roll them up for the recital or I have someone who can cut and hem them for the recital.)

The girls will need white tights for the recital for sure so you can also invest in those once.

*IF YOU ARE GOING TO BUY DANCE SHOES PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING SHOE INFORMATION BELOW. IF YOU ALREADY HAVE SHOES FOR YOUR DAUGHTER, GO AHEAD AND SEND HER IN WHAT YOU HAVE AND YOU CAN FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES WHEN SHE GROWS OUT OF WHAT SHE HAS.

Levels 1 & 2 need ballet shoes (preferably light pink) and black tap shoes.

The best place to find them is the DI, especially tap shoes. They are very expensive at the dance shops.

You can order them online for cheaper than the stores.  Some websites to check are: www.discountdance.com - they have child's canvas split sole for only $11.
or www.allaboutdance.com - they have leather economy children's ballets for $13.50 which is fantastic for leather.
Payless has ballets for $20 but you can sometimes find 20% off coupons.

You can also ask around to friends and family because girls grow out of them really quickly. I do have some in my studio of various sizes that they can borrow if needed until you can find some.

Please note the shoes below - they are real ballet shoes.

The shoes shown below are labeled"ballet shoes" but they are really slippery, do not fit well, and inhibit the girls from learning to point their toes. If possible, I would stay away from those.

Any of these kinds of tap shoes are fine.

Level 3 will need black ballet shoes or black jazz shoes

If any of this is difficult because of financial reasons for you right now, please let me know and we can work something out.
